In 1954 Britain’s “Cycling Weekly” magazine asked their readers what they thought the bicycle would look like in the year 2000. We posted part two of this article about a year ago and many of you found it pretty interesting. Now we have the missing part one, thanks to Tony Colegrave.

Some of the predictors had a pretty accurate crystal ball; “Mass produced frames will be electrically welded but craftsman-specialists will still build bicycles. . . .by hand, to the requirements of the conniseur.” Some missed the mark pretty wide; Bicycles “will be built on the stretched-skin aircraft principal. . .opening as a spectacle case does”
