Pre-Aged Brooks With Proofide on the Top

I have a lot of old pictures in the IPhoto files. They are rough but some of them might be interesting.

We have just learned that the Brooks has dropped the honey and antique brown versions of the B.68 model saddle. The B.68 is now produced in black only. We have some antique brown versions left but we haveno honey-coloured examples.

The B.68 is an unsprung B.67. It is a wider saddle for a more upright riding style. You might choose it because you don’t want the springs or because your bike has some other suspension, like a suspension seatpost.

I learned about a service that digitizes a couple of my favorite magazines while browsing the EcoVelo blog.

VeloVision and A to B both come from England and they both focus on alternatives in the cycling world. Both magazines envision a world in which the cycle is more integral to our daily lives.

The Exact Editions service provides scans of these magazines and a bunch more on a subscription basis. There is a free copy for evaluation. Exact Editions offers a wide range of specialty publications with a Eurocentric orientation.

EcoVelo is an attractive, interesting blog. Exact Editions is an interesting alternative for information enthusiasts who want to reduce their paper consumption. Between the two of them I lost about half of my morning

When you have bought a new saddle at Wallingford Bicycle Parts we offered you the Brooks Care Kit at a reduced price. We have changed the New Saddle Special deal from the discounted Care Kit to a $12 tin of Proofide for $6

This change came about because Brooks has changed their packaging a little and they include a spanner with all saddles that use a spanner for tension adjustment.

(The spanner (wrench) is used to adjust the tension on Brooks saddles. It is a Whitworth nut and there are no inch or metric wrenches that work. Needle nose pliers can be used with no ill effect.)

When a manufacturer changes something usually the change does not happen all at once. In this case we are still getting saddles in ’08 boxes along with a few of the new ’09 presentation. The saddles are exactly the same. There is no advantage to insisting on a new box.

There isn’t any way to automate getting the right New Saddle Special matched up with the saddle you are buying. If you are buying a saddle and want to get the special deal on the care kit with a saddle that doesn’t include a wrench then call us up and we will make sure you get the correct special deal.
