What’s a CYCLE?

May 29th, 2009 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Articles

“Certain motorcyclists, by the way, are displaying a distressing and somewhat slangy habit of calling a cycle a “push-bike.” The cycle was christened as a “cycle” many years before athletic young men became addicted the strenuous sport of sitting on a can of petrol.”

Coming: FlyingVelo

May 29th, 2009 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in bags, new

sbagclipWe have ordered a few FlyingVelo leather saddlebags. They are en-route now. Once we get the bags and the shipping/duties invoice we will be able to offer them for sale. It should take a couple of weeks. The price should be $150-$200. Our first shipment will consist of bags in the three colors that match the Brooks saddles.

These bags are made of heavy leather and, in size, they are inbetween the small Brooks bags and the Carradice bags.

FlyingVelo is a small factory in S Korea. They have a few folding-bike items and some other small pieces. We have been trying one of these saddlebags for a week and are impressed with the quality.

Brooks has launched a complete redesign of their website. No more flash! (I’ll miss the birthing of the spring, though).

Some of the sections aren’t completed but the site is a good improvement over the old one. If you work your way down to individual item pages there is a place for consumer reviews – “we accept all, but coarse language.”

Schwalbe ETA: Supremes and Extremes

May 26th, 2009 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Schwalbe, Tires

Schwalbe North America advises us of arrival dates (at their warehouse) for some Marathon Supreme and Marathon Extreme tires. We should have them soon after. Many of these tires have been out-0f-stock for a while so there might be a pent up demand that would eat up this shipment quickly.
