Different Sort of Brooks Lacing

When Brooks riders (and the Brooks factory) want to firm up their saddles they lace the skirts and the holes and laces usually follow the edge of the skirt. Flickr photo-poster “Levature” did it a little differently. The higher laces look like they would have a more direct effect on the saggy top and they are above the saddle clamp.

Paint on Berthoud Fenders?

smileysfenders 011Our friend Smiley had his stainless steel Berthoud fenders painted black for his new Kelly Bedford touring bike. This is the first time I’ve seen this. It’s a nice detail on a classy bike. (Plus, kudos on the frame pump!)
