Brooks Repair – Brooks’ Man in the U.S.

November 30th, 2011 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Brooks, Resources, saddles

Philadelphia framebuilder Simon Firth has traveled to Birmingham to learn the arts of saddle making and saddle repair. Simon is now the Brooks factory-authorized saddle repair agent for America. Simon has access to parts that most U.S. dealers don’t, and he knows his way around a rivet.

Berthoud Debuts Rohloff Drop-Bar Shifter, Wider, Cheaper Saddle

September 8th, 2011 by Bill | 3 Comments | Filed in Berthoud, Other Blogs, Products

Berthoud Rohloff ShifterUK website road.cc reports on new Gilles Berthoud’s products on display at the recent Eurobike trade show in Germany. M. Berthoud has developed a solution for riders who want to use the well-regarded Rohloff Speedhub fourteen-speed internal gear hub on drop handlebars.

Berthoud has also added a new model to his popular leather saddle line. The ‘Mente’ model is wider, at 180mm, and less costly than the race and tour saddles and is designed for a more upright riding position.

Wallingford Bicycle Parts looks forward to carrying these new Gilles Berthoud products as soon as they become available.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM BROOKS

September brings us Interbike and Eurobike, the biggest industry shows and the showcases for new goodies.

Brooks is going to show off a new set of panniers and a chic cycling jacket.

Lands End Pannier

The Land’s End rear pannier is paired with the John ‘O Groats front pannier for a serious touring set. They are said to be “waterproof, light, and durable” “without sacrificing style.” Look for them sometime next year.

Criterion Jacket

The Criterion jacket is “truly the finest jacket ever created for cycling.” Made with Ventile cotton and a tweed lining, the jacket is listed at 1000€.

STYLE CONNECTION

Additionally, Brooks is announcing a collaberation with PEdALED (please allow me this one bitch about companies that sacrafice typography to design). Japanese firm PEdALED shows a line of workie/bikie gear that is hitting a new niche, I think.

I’m not sure how this collaberation will play out on the shelves here at wallbike.com. Time will tell.

The folks at Selle Royal are working hard to bring exciting products to the Brooks brand. It all may not be for everyone but it is interesting.

Select Brooks Select

August 10th, 2011 by Bill | 2 Comments | Filed in Brooks, Other Blogs, saddles

We have most of the Brooks Select line of saddles in stock at the moment. We haven’t been able to get the Champion Flyer yet and the Swallow’s are all sold, but we do have the B.17, B.17S, Flyer S, B.67, and B.67S.

These new saddles are beauties. Thick leather in an un-dyed, natural shade, with big copper rivets and skived skirts look very appealing to me.

Brooks’ Andrea Menghelli does a nice job of explaining the Select models so I will refer you to his piece on the Brooks Blog.

This a part from a new piece of Berthoud hardware. We’ll send a Berthoud catalog to the first person who identifies it.
