Berthoud Debuts Rohloff Drop-Bar Shifter, Wider, Cheaper Saddle

September 8th, 2011 by Bill | 3 Comments | Filed in Berthoud, Other Blogs, Products

Berthoud Rohloff ShifterUK website road.cc reports on new Gilles Berthoud’s products on display at the recent Eurobike trade show in Germany. M. Berthoud has developed a solution for riders who want to use the well-regarded Rohloff Speedhub fourteen-speed internal gear hub on drop handlebars.

Berthoud has also added a new model to his popular leather saddle line. The ‘Mente’ model is wider, at 180mm, and less costly than the race and tour saddles and is designed for a more upright riding position.

Wallingford Bicycle Parts looks forward to carrying these new Gilles Berthoud products as soon as they become available.

New Gilles Berthoud Race Saddle

June 3rd, 2010 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Berthoud, saddles

1Xrace
Gilles Berthoud has produced the lightest full-leather saddle on the market with the introduction of his Galiber model race saddle. Titanium rails and careful design result in a weight of ~305g. The Soulor is a stainless steel version and the existing Aspin steel touring saddle is joined by the Aravis titanium touring saddle. (The saddles are named for climbs in the French Alps).
Berthoud saddles are waterproof and hand pre-softened. They can be disassembled with hand tools and the tensioning mechanism in the nose is an advance over existing designs. All models come in black, natural (un-dyed) and “cork” finish leather.
These saddles are a fine example of M. Berthoud’s passion for fine cycling equipment. We are happy to be able to represent M. Berthoud in America.

April 2nd, 2010 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Berthoud, modifications

smileysfenders 011Our friend Smiley had his stainless steel Berthoud fenders painted black for his new Kelly Bedford touring bike. This is the first time I’ve seen this. It’s a nice detail on a classy bike. (Plus, kudos on the frame pump!)
