Brooks has made a few of the “Classic” versions of the Team Professional in white leather. They are not a “special edition” but they are limited in quantity at a price of $170.

Soma has a bar tape that is a pretty close match to Brooks honey leather. They call it ‘brown’, we call it ‘almost honey’. It is hard for us to find though. After months of looking we found ten rolls at one of our suppliers. At $13 it is a pretty good deal. We have it listed on our ‘components‘ page. When these ten rolls are gone I am not sure when we can get more.
Brooks has run off a few more white Team Pro saddles. (I’m told they had a little white leather left over). These will not be presented as special editions. No imprint in the seat like the Tokyo version. The price should be less than $200 and we should have some in stock later next week.

UPDATE 1/12/09: We have the white Team Pros in stock at $330. There was a problem with the html purchasing code on the web page but I think it’s good now.

At the 1933 Olympia (London) Cycle Show Brooks displayed advanced technology in saddle construction. I found this article(PDF) in the Nov 24, 1933 edition of Cycling magazine. The Brooks piece was a part of a larger article about highlights of the show.
There are some interesting concepts here for Brooks wonks. I have never seen one of these saddles.
Interesting vocabulary:
“roadfarers” kitbags” “Champion Duralumin” “B.16 Champion” “castalumin formation” “automatic tensioning device” “fabric-cum-leather-cum-felt surfacing” “dome-headed rivet” “Plyflex” “constructional alteration”
