B.72 Frame Replaced

May 4th, 2011 by Bill | No Comments | Filed in Brooks, Other Blogs, saddles

exploded B.72 nose

Phillip, at Bike Tinker, replaced the frame on an old B.72. He writes about his experience and posts a few pictures here. The chromed-steel rivets are not from Brooks and I asked him about them:

I got them at the hardware store (True Value), which is inside a farm store (Wilco). I had the old saddle, so I could gauge the length I needed, and I got some good advice from a young guy there who seemed like he’d riveted a time or two. “The copper ones just go over like butter.” He also recommended splitting the rivet with a chisel to make it easier to peen the parts over.

Anybody Do Saddle Repair?

October 7th, 2008 by Bill | 10 Comments | Filed in Resources, shop

We get the occasional mail or call from someone who wants to get their saddle repaired. We sell replacement parts for Brooks saddles but we don’t work on them. The only reference I have is Tony Colegrave, in England. It would be nice to have a resource in America.

Does anyone in the US do this kind of work? Would any of you like to do this type of work. You could perform a service to the Brooks community and make a little money.
